Electronics were considered imports ten to fifteen years ago. You might get more costly gadgets from Japan or Germany, or you could purchase less robust products from China if you are on a tight budget. However, in the home market, the Walton brand has grown to represent quality and dependability over the last few years. It is currently among Bangladesh’s most renowned manufacturers of electronics. Walton is now a household name in every Bangladeshi home because of its extensive product line, which includes refrigerators, televisions, air conditioners, and other household items. It has made great strides by exporting its goods to the international market and has grown to become the only dominant force in Bangladesh’s electronics industry.
In the beginning
The Walton Group’s founder, S. M. Nazrul Islam, was born in Tangail in 1929. In 1977, this honorable and self-reliant businessman quit the family business to launch his own company. Gradually, his sons joined him, and with their assistance, Walton now grows its operations throughout Bangladesh. The business established the groundwork for future success by entering the electronics sector in the late 1990s.
Walton’s Development and Growth
The company’s in-house manufacturing operations began when Walton built its production facility in 2007. Within a year, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited transitioned from manufacturing televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, and motorcycles to commercial production. Through cell phones, Walton’s digital devices made their debut on the market in 2010. As of 2011, Walton had begun producing a range of domestic goods and solidified its place in Bangladesh’s electronics sector.
Accomplishments and Position in the Market
Walton has received numerous accolades and won the hearts of customers with its emphasis on quality and constant innovation. Among other domestic brands, Walton got the ‘Best Brand’ award in 2011. Over the following few years, Walton founded Walton Micro-Tech Corporation, constructed more sophisticated production facilities, and established specialized factories for household appliances including pressure cookers and rice cookers. In the local market, which was formerly controlled by pricey international brands, Walton had taken 30% of the television market and 60% of the refrigerator market by 2015. With 14 million refrigerators, 1 million televisions, 3 lakh motorcycles, and 3 lakh air conditioners produced annually at Walton’s facilities, the company’s output volume also grew quickly.
Sustainable Production and Technological Innovation
Long-term client retention has been facilitated by Walton’s production techniques, which demonstrate its dedication to technical innovation and sustainable production methods. A “Five Star Energy Rating” was awarded to Walton’s refrigerators by the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute in 2017. Walton established Bangladesh’s sole compressor manufacturing facility that same year. They use CFC-free gas and are always working to maintain their product design and packaging as eco-friendly as possible in an attempt to lead the way in sustainable production.
The debut of Walton on the international market
Currently, Walton ships products to over 40 nations. In collaboration with the global brand Hyundai Electronics, it provides goods such as air conditioners and refrigerators to customers all over the world. Their ability to conduct research and development is crucial to the growth of exports. They have recently expanded their Walton Corporation in the United States, India, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea to strengthen their global footprint.
Unbeknownst to us, the journey of Walton’s growth from a tiny business to a major corporation demonstrates their dedication to sustainable production methods and innovation. Walton has always had the confidence of Bangladeshi consumers thanks to its dependable policies and high-quality goods. Therefore, by selling their goods both domestically and internationally, Walton is currently contributing significantly to the Bangladeshi economy.
